The Wee Globetrotter

What's better, knowing the Super Bowl is rigged and not watching the 4 hr 14 min game to save yourself the disappointment, or still knowing it's rigged and watching it with friends and Irish 49ers fans in a pub. Correct! I'm glad I stayed up until 4:00 am to be not only disappointed that the infamous Kansas City Chiefs won, but it was all worth it to see a group of 7 American Football fan Irishmen cheering for just about anything the San Francisco 49ers did from declining penalties to making a field goal. It was refreshing! The pints of Guinness and two plates of pulled pork nachos also sweetened the deal. My teammates Nate and Igor were there to share the experience with me as well. Yeo! As this is my first blog, I'd like to welcome you to The Wee Globetrotter, a place where I reveal and share my day to day routine as a professional basketball player living in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Although I would not consider myself small, I thought it apt to include a common Belfast slang such as wee into my blog title because of how frequently I hear it sprinkled throughout conversations. Considering this is a "wee" blog, as some NIs might say, the Globetrotter has a double meaning, stemming from the Harlem Globetrotters, a USA exhibition basketball team known for their theatrical athleticism, and harkening to my travels across the world from Santa Barbara, California to here. It is a great privilege to demonstrate and represent how I've been raised by my parents, grown with my friends, and taught and competed in NCAA D3 basketball at Hamilton College to people across the world here in Belfast. Tuesday, February 6th: Prayer, Pasta, and Powerlifting

I live about 20 minutes up the west side of Belfast Harbor in a town called Jordanstown and take a pink, double-decker Translink bus to commute. The best seat in the house is second level, front left corner where you can look out across water and enjoy the cloudy sky, even when the sun isn't peeking through. To make it complete, I press shuffle on my liked songs playlist on Spotify and bounce around what song strikes my mood. But on Tuesday, I did not have class, as a Victory scholar, I needed to take a shift for the basketball club at the Fresher's Fair (Club Fair) at the University. During my hour and a half shift, about 4 people engaged with our booth. Thanks to the American football table next to me, they had a corn hole set to pass the time and showed them my American made talent forged during my time in college.
